Why AOSC exists
For years, the surgeons behind AOSC have focused on advancing airway and aesthetic facial surgery — procedures such as orthognathic (jaw) surgery, airway surgery, rhinoplasty, facial aesthetic surgery, and complex oral and maxillofacial surgery.
One of our founders, Dr. David Alfi, has played an important role in advancing technology, surgical technique, education, and the dissemination of knowledge within oral and maxillofacial surgery.
That background led to one question: if an ambulatory surgery center could be designed specifically for facial surgery, from the ground up, what would it look like?
That question became AOSC.
Designed around the patient journey, not adapted to it
Rather than adapting an existing surgery center to accommodate facial surgery, AOSC was intentionally designed around the needs of facial surgery patients and the surgeons who care for them.
Every part of the patient journey was considered from the start — arrival, preoperative preparation, operating room workflow, recovery, discharge, and everything in between.

We want every patient undergoing jaw surgery, rhinoplasty, airway surgery, facial procedures, and related operations to be cared for in an outpatient center designed specifically around those procedures — not one adapted to accommodate them.
A specialty built at the intersection of medicine and dentistry
One of the aspects that shapes AOSC is its foundation in oral and maxillofacial surgery (OMS) — a specialty that naturally bridges medicine, dentistry, anesthesia, hospital surgery, and outpatient surgery.
That perspective allows AOSC to create a collaborative environment where medical and dental specialists can work alongside one another, informed by a discipline built at the intersection of both worlds.
Care coordinated around this patient population
AOSC's nursing and perioperative teams are trained specifically to care for airway and facial surgery patients. That specialization shapes how care is coordinated — from anesthesia planning through recovery — with workflows built around this patient population rather than adapted from general surgical care.
Surgeons, anesthesia providers, and nursing staff work together with attention to the details particular to facial and airway procedures.

Both AOSC facilities are located on HCA medical campuses. This location offers proximity to hospital resources, supports coordinated patient care, and provides convenient access for physicians who split their time between hospital and outpatient settings.
